Upgrade (free): how to add a car to the app and activate Premium Connectivity (BY)
Communities note: if you correctly re-add the car in the app and specify region BY, some owners get Premium Connectivity activated without a subscription. Below is a careful step-by-step guide and important warnings.
Important before you start
- Internet in the car is mandatory: LTE or Wi-Fi connection (otherwise pairing won't confirm).
- All data and photos must be real and readable. Do not use false information.
- Make sure that in Service Mode the Tesla Connection status is green (see our article on certificates/connectivity).
What we do (the careful workflow)
- If the car is already in the app — in Tesla App remove it as a Third-party sale. This is an important removal type.
- Add it again by VIN: Tesla App → My Products → Add Product → enter the VIN.
- Rename the car on the car's screen exactly as the App requests.
- Give the system a minute or two; leave the doors open so the MCU doesn't go to sleep.
- Tie it to the same account that was used before (same login/email).
- Prepare and upload clear photos:
- Driver's license next to the VIN under the windshield.
- Vehicle registration from both sides, also next to the VIN.
- In the form specify region BY and a BY address.
- Wait for confirmation in the app. Once the car appears in App you can rename it back.
Per owner reports from Belarus, with this workflow some cars get Premium Connectivity activated without a subscription. This is unofficial and depends on region/account/firmware — no guarantees, Tesla policy may change.
What can go wrong
- The car is offline → the App will say "connect to LTE/Wi-Fi".
- Photos/data unreadable → application denied.
- Outdated modem/certificates → pairing won't complete (see our articles on modems and certificates).
- After removal, until you complete re-adding, you won't have App access to the car — plan accordingly.
Legal and ethical notes
- Follow Tesla's terms and your country's laws. Don't submit false information.
- The described workflow is community practice, not an official method to activate services. Decide at your own risk.
