Window regulator not working — diagnosis and repair
Window regulator fails: window won't go up or drops on its own. Calibration, reboot and mechanism replacement.
Symptoms
The window regulator fails periodically — the window won't go up or drops on its own. On Model S sometimes a barbaric but working method helps.
Solution
- On Model S — slam the door harder (the window goes up — sounds like a Passat B3, but it works).
- MCU reboot: hold both scroll wheels on the steering wheel for 10-15 seconds.
- On Model 3 the mechanism is different — door disassembly is required.
- Check the guides and the motor.
- Window regulator calibration via Service Mode.
Belarus budget
$0–400 — from a reboot to mechanism replacement.
