Symptoms

The 12V (or 16V on newer models) battery is a frequent cause of a fully bricked Tesla. The car stops opening, doesn't react to the key, the screen is black. On the Model S 2023, the 16V VCBATT also dies suddenly. Especially dangerous in winter during long parking without being plugged in.

Solution

  1. Jump-start from an external source at the battery terminals under the hood (on the 2012–2015 Model S — the contacts behind the nose cone). The wires in the connector under the bumper only release the hood latches (power supply ≤30 sec) — you cannot charge through them.
  2. Before installing a new battery — always charge it to maximum.
  3. Reboot the car with a power cycle (full power-off).
  4. For Model 3: Energy Premium EFB Asia 50Ah fits.
  5. Palladium VCBATT on the new S/X tend to suddenly lose half their capacity.

Belarus budget

≈ $50–300 depending on the battery model and labor.
